Public Painting Classes Schedule August/September 2018

Hey Picasso!  Here’s the Into The Brush painting class schedule for during the next 30 days.  Come join us for a fun time with brush in hand and paint on palette.  (Sometimes people get that mixed up so wear an old shirt when you come.)  We are located at the Fernberg Gallery which is 15 miles NE of Ely on a nice, asphalt road.  Think of us being on Ely’s main street but only 15 miles out of town.  Easy to find.  Takes about 20 minutes to get here.

Check out the various painting topics offered and sign up by giving us a call.   All materials provided in each class.  Reservations are required for each class.  If you show up without reservations, please don’t be upset if you can’t have a seat or the class was cancelled and you didn’t know it.   If you have a question, you can call us (218-365-5489), private message us in Facebook by searching Into The Brush and hitting the “Message” button, OR send an email to: intothebrush@gmail.com

Ely Stone Stash #2 during the Blueberry Arts Festival

Starting this Saturday, July 28, at 8 AM begins IntoTheBrush’s Ely Stone Stash.   Over 70 hand-painted, fine art stones will have been hidden around town.  Find one, keep it or re-hide it – it’s your choice.Stones of the Blueberry Arts Ely Stone Stash

BONUS – Find the Lady of Stone (all six face parts) and win a Framed Print of the Joe Baltich original painting, Mr. Majestic!  $100 value.  You may have to negotiate with others to bring in all 6 stones!  Test your skills!

Lady of Stone

Into The Brush Moose on Canvas
Win this framed print with all six (6) parts of the Lady of Stone during the Ely Stone Stash event!

Get out there Saturday, July 28 and find some rocks.  IntoTheBrush rocks will be signed by Joe Baltich (JBALTICH) or Connie Edwards (CWE).

IntoTheBrush is a non-profit all about promoting art education and inspiring others to produce a higher quality of painted stones (and art in general) for the Ely region.   Finding cool rocks that took a considerable amount of effort is like looking for Easter eggs!  We hope the finders of our stones will consider giving painting a try.  It’s a great activity and is much like yoga without all that stretching and breathing.  Painting art lowers for blood pressure, improves mental focus, and is just plain relaxing – assuming one is not on a deadline, of course.   It’s relatively inexpensive to start and we believe that everybody can paint.  Give it a try.  Come take a Micro Art Rock Painting Class at Northwind Lodge.   It’s about 2 hours of fun – all materials are included.  Note that is is a bit challenging and may require a bit more focus, so not really suited for kids under 10 – depends on the kid, of course.  Click Here to find out more.

Into The Brush Receives Community Award for S.O.U.L – 2017

Into The Brush is honored to be recognized as the local winner of Minnesota’s Touchstone Energy Community Award  by Lake Country Power for its work with Stones Of Uplifting Light (SOUL) in providing emotional support for those who become unexpectedly terminally ill.   SOUL operations in April of 2017 as a new program designed to share art on stone with people who are suddenly in the final stages of their life by working with an intermediary (family member, friend, acquaintance, etc) to find out some details about the afflicted individual and a more joyous time in that person’s past.   Joe Baltich, lead SOUL artist,  then paints that moment on stone and sends the art to the individual.  No fees are charged for SOUL stones.  Donations to Into The Brush are accepted but not required.  SOUL recipients are generally not acquainted with SOUL artists and there is no contact between either party.  SOUL founder and artist, Joe Baltich wanted SOUL to represent the kindness of strangers through sharing art.  Although feedback has been non-existent (neither expected, encouraged, nor required)  from SOUL recipients, Into The Brush has been gratified to hear through a few intermediaries that the various recipients were very moved by the gesture-in-stone-art and their families also very appreciative of the lasting mementos.   A small, positive effect in a most difficult time is the goal all Into The Brush with SOUL.   If you know somebody who is having a rough time and faced with harsh realities, Into The Brush encourages you to contact them at intothebrush@gmail.com

Touchstone Energy Community Award
Into The Brush thanks Lake Country Power for their recognition of the SOUL program and is pleased to be a part of the Touchstone Energy Cooperatives!

Resounding Reflections resulted in beautiful works of art!

It was a fun class….well, they always are. Five painters surprised themselves with their successful works. The class was about painting reflections in water and it was definitely challenging to our participants, but the end result were 5 wallhangers. Check them out for yourself.
